The Project Patron Award

To the Oceans Project, launched in 2022, has grown into a globally expanding digital communications initiative that brings fresh thinking, new voices, and meaningful action into ocean protection.

This is not a single campaign, but a living, evolving platform where people, ideas, and the oceans connect.

Each patron enables the innovative communications work of To the Oceans Project to become visible, influential, and widely known. The patron support is used directly to produce impactful content and encounters: webinars, videos, seminars, events, and blogs that unite ocean advocates across borders and disciplines. We award you with a memorable framed prize to be proudly presented with joy as the project is expanding globally.

As the new year 2026 begins, the hard work continues with joy. Here is shared highlights of the 2025 work and upcoming initiatives:

  1. A partnership with the Canadian-based marvellous Brilliant Blue Challenge, an international ocean-protection ideas competition for students, bringing its first Scandinavian national competition to Finland in August 2026.

2. New Balkan-region blogs and documentary storytelling by Silvana Ivandic-Määttä. https://totheoceans.com/blogs/blogs-balkan-with-nana/

To the Oceans Project is effective, agile, and cost-efficient. We operate online without a large office, minimize air travel, and work with local contributors around the world. The project is effective as it brings forward that the balance in world seas – and especially in the water cycles – are the essense of our lives. Stories of ocean life, sea history, experiences, science, awakenings and ongoing many marine projects inspire by interesting all.

While the project already commissions online content services across continents, it is preparing to create its first fully employed team member roles from 2027 onward. The base station for totheoceans.com is in Finland, Scandinavia as the region has sustainability protected by law and skilled knowledge in environmental care.

One of the patrons supporting this ocean advocacy is Mr. Tuomo Kauranne. In recognition of committed supporters, a special totheoceans.com award has been established.
